New Hair Transplant Technique Will Raise A Few Eyebrows

Deciding to have a hair transplant is a major decision, and it is essential that if you are suffering from hair loss you should obtain the advice of a qualified professional within the industry before going ahead with any treatments for hair loss. There are many reasons for people to experience thinning of hair on the scalp, but a hair transplant can offer a solution for many other types of hair loss.

One of the most recent treatments available to sufferers is an eyebrow transplant. Although it may seem that most women spend many hours and many pounds on removing eyebrow hair, there is a niche market for replacing the hair of over plucked eyebrows. The loss of eyebrow hair is the result of over plucking, especially if it started in the early teens. Until recently, the only solution was to thicken the line with an eyebrow pencil or to have a cosmetic tattoo.

Eyebrow pencils provide a temporary solution, but some women found that when swimming or at night the lack of hair reduced their confidence and self esteem. The more permanent solution of having eyebrows tattooed on the brow line worked well for some women, but others found that after a while the tattoo faded to a blue green colour, resulting in an even more unnatural look.

Having the brows transplanted offers these women a chance to have natural looking eyebrows. The procedure is the same as with any other hair transplant surgery. Donor hairs, usually from the back of the scalp are removed in groups of one to four, and the follicles are placed in a naturally random order in the new site. Because the technique is so precise, it is possible to create a delicate line to suit the shape of an individual's brow bone. This type of surgery could boost the self esteem of women who feel that the loss of eyebrow hair has compromised their confidence.

There is however an element of maintenance that needs to be recognized prior to commencing with this type of cosmetic surgery. The hair in the new area will grow as it did at the donor site, which means that every six weeks or so the eyebrows will need to be trimmed to remain tidy. On the positive side, there will be no unsightly stray hairs to contend with, and the new hair transplant procedures produce a natural look that cannot be achieved by cosmetic tattoos.
